Menlo-Atherton High School Programs

Menlo-Atherton High School is home to a Youth Advisory Board and a Peer Education Team, two programs driven by students with a desire to create positive social change on their campus. In collaboration with the Youth Development Coordinator, members of the Youth Advisory Board assess campus needs and create campaigns and events to address critical issues, while Peer Educators strive to educate themselves and others about health, safety, and community resources. These programs capitalize on students' many assets for the benefit of Menlo-Atherton High School, while simultaneously encouraging self-empowerment and leadership development within the students themselves.

For more information please contact Shannon at (650) 322-5311 x 5255 or shannon.smoot@yfes.org

Sequoia High School - Teen Resource Center

At the Sequoia High School Teen Resource Center students can participate as Youth Advisory Board members, Peaceful Intervention, or be part of health and wellness programs. As the Youth Advisory Board, students advise and work together with YDI Program Coordinator to incorporate new programs/efforts to serve the needs of the students at Sequoia. Peaceful Intervention engages peers in conflict mediation. Along with GEL, there is a Young Men Moving Towards Health program.

For more information please contact Brian at (650) 369-1411 ex. 6492 or brian.lau@yfes.org

Youth Commission

Youth Commissioners are placed on non-profit boards of directors and county commissions so that they learn more about the government process while offering valuable youth input to policy and decision-making. The YC's are paired with an adult mentor on the board and receive training in leadership, advocacy, social justice, and civic engagement. Each year the they work on individual projects and a group project. Currently, as a group the YC's are implementing a county-wide Health needs assessment.
